A Night of Spaghetti and Art – Daniel Boone Spaghetti Dinner and Art Gala

Posted on 02/08/2017

Like peanut butter and jelly, art and pasta go together wonderfully! On Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, the students at Daniel Boone Elementary displayed their artwork at the spaghetti dinner and art gala. Each year, the PTO plans this event to raise money for a family in need. This year, all of the proceeds went to a Daniel Boone staff member who is battling cancer. The Daniel Boone Community raised over $4,300 during the gala, to help offset medical costs.

“Thanks to everyone that was able to come to the spaghetti dinner and show your support for the art show and auction,” said Thomas Sherman, art teacher. “It was a huge success, and wouldn’t have been so without all of our students’ artwork and the help of our staff. I was filled with inspiration by how our community supported this event.”

This was a school-wide event, and every student displayed a piece of their artwork. Hallways overflowed with creative masterpieces made by the students. During the dinner, some of the artwork sold at the silent auction, which raised funds in addition to the meal purchases.

“I usually see teachers in their classrooms, but that night, teachers all came together to serve spaghetti in the school cafeteria for someone in need,” said Grant Foster, fifth grade. “We have great people at Daniel Boone!”

“We’re already looking forward to the difference and impact our community will make next year,” said Sherman.
